Help needed to identify sliding door parts

  1. Hi, I am hoping some one might be able to help me identify a couple of parts for the inside of my sliding door. I have a 1974 late bay, but it is a crossover model with, I believe, an prototype bay sliding door and mechanism.

I have posted 2 photos below, one is the front of the inside of the door, where a blanking plat has been fitted over what I think is the "sliding door inner lock catch" - is anyone able to confirm that for me please? I think the VW part number is 214 843 453 and the follow in question is, will this part fit all bays, or was there a different part for prototype bay/late bay.

The next question concerns the back of the inside of the door, where I have a couple of bolts above the rear latch mechanism... can any one let me know what is supposed to go there?

Any help (or photos of the inside of your vans) much appreciated.

  2. The missing bit at the front is the latching plate for when the door's open. A catch at the rear locks into this to stop the door rolling forward if you're parked on a hill. The rear two bolts just hold the the slider mechanism into the door. Normally there are just two bolt heads visible, although some folk have an additional handle attached to these to pull the door in manually from the inside.
