Im having a nightmare with the window wiper wiring, they were working fine before now they have stopped, I have checked all of the wiring to a wiring diagram and it all seems ok, found a bracket that hangs down from the dash which was disonnected when the paintwork on the dash was done so attempted to refit it..as I did so it earthed on the motor and the motor started up... Great! I thought "motor housing just needs to be earthed" tried fitting the bracket so it was in contact with the motor , tried the switch and it blew the fuse tried another fuse blew it again, basically tried everything and now it isnt blowing fuses but isnt working either! obviously an MOT fail and my mot is gonna be tuesday, basically if the motor has gone im f&%ked as I need it for driving to the airport on thursday anyone got any info or good wiring diagrams to go from? cheers
Im in yorkshire, the wiring has been messed with so I've tried to reconnect it all properly going from a wiring diagram I found online theres wires everywhere! I have power at the motor so thought it was knakerd but when I earthed it and it started up I thought I'd cracked it but tried earthing it again and nothing... no pics sorry mate I can get the wiring diagram I used if thats any help? cheers
The thing is you can't assume the diagram or the motor are original to the van, it sound like its either wired wrong or the motor / mechanisms kaput , there should be a plug on your motor, also I think one of the wires is brown but not earth
Maybe dabbing a live on the body back-fed the park circuit for a mo? Wiring is simple, remove your extra body earth and try wiggling the fuse.
Is the bit on the bottom left where it says Hi - Lo and 31b is this the original wiring which would feed the column stalk nomally?
How old is your van? Mine has a dash wiper switch - you press the middle for washer. Very simple to wire so if you follow early you won't be far out. I also fitted a late wiper motor and spindles and motor wiring was the same.
its a 1974, yes mine is the one with the press middle, so you say early wiring is what I need? sorry for all the questions mate but I spent 3 hours messing with it pulling my hair out haha
I replaced the wires one at a time so I couldnt get them mixed up but then found other wires in the same area not connected to anything so got confused.
