The brown wire has come of my regulator ( the small brown one from the dynamo) but I cannot for the life of me see where it goes back on-- anyone know- need to do it asap. I can see where it points to on this drawing but cant see anywhere to attach it.
It goes to earth, on the body of the regulator one of the mountings has a tapped screw hole, it goes there, make sure it's the earth one, pop up a picture of your regulator and I can probably tell you the one
Yes I knew it was the earth Dave - just can't see where it connects to the body of the cb- back in mo with a pic! Cheers
Well that was fun - peeled firewall back to replace hoses and filler pipe - old filler pipe absolutely fine so put that back on- renewed breather hoses and reconnected one that was off. and sorted the regulator wire in the process. It still wasn't charging even after changing the bushes in the dynamo - turns out that brown wire was not connected properly and it wasn't earthing the reg box - charging now. The firewall took ages to get back in position as I bent it a bit ( lot )when pulling it forward. never mind I have peace of mind now and lots of bruises and scrapes. I do not recommend doing this on your own van - it was a mare tbh!
