So, I'll try again.. Hello again! Joined TLB just before the Big Crash and have had such a busy few weeks sticking bits back on my bus with gaffer tape that I've only just got round to rejoining! Been the proud owner of a 1977 Westfalia Helsinki for just over 7 weeks now. During that time we have camped (i) in my partner's parents' back garden, lol (ii) 2 weeks in France (iii) a night near not so sunny Worcester (iv) the wettest Bank Holiday weekend I can remember at Cloud Farm in North Devon. We have been through (i) a windscreen wiper motor which failed on day two of VW ownership, on the M6 in torrential rain (ii) a wiper arm we screwed up while investigating aforementioned motor - don't ask (iii) a wingmirror through overenthusiastic nut tightening (iv) a posh chrome petrol cap left at an aire somewhere en France (iv) last week, an alternator. The bus is now off the road waiting to go back to the place we bought him from with some suspected engine issues, which (thankfully, given that I am clearly accident prone and incompetent - see above) they have agreed to fix. So 7 weeks in and I'm still not sure if I have done something completely crazy - who knows what's going to break or drop off next!?! What I DO know is that every time I get behind the wheel I can't stop grinning like a Chesire Cat. Which for the moment is good enough for me.
