Hello volks, just a line or two to say hello. I'm returning to VW ownership after a break of 30 years... This is my first bus, I had been looking for a while at various offerings then decided to buy a project given that most of the stuff available were just short of major projects anyway ! In between other VW and non VW projects Ive made a start to my bus and hope to crack on and make some decent progress. Nedless to say it needs everything, is there such a thing as a small amount of rust or localised rust on these things ?? So after £6k in parts purchases I'm almost set to start the rebuild.. Wish me luck..
Cheers... I started off with a cal look bug way back when, then got into the hot rod scene, after a few rod builds I got kinda fed up with the legislation required to get stuff on the road. Decided there and then that I would go back to the VWs and quickly jumped in buying a 70 Ghia.. that's still under going resto, I'm still collecting parts ... The van came along after telling a friend that I was looking, turns out he knew of one in a garden close to him. After making enquiry with the owner it turned out the van could be bought... I stuffed some cash in my pocket, and went around with a charged battery and fresh fuel, after an hour looking over it time come to fire it up... after running up some oil pressure the gas was connected and it fired up first time ... after a 15 year stand..negotiated a deal there and then agreed a price ( £1000) and drove it on the trailer.... I will post updates in the resto section as progress allows.
Hi Congratulations with your bus purchase , you did well getting a bus for that amount not seen anything around here where I live for that sort of money for years . Well done . Look forward to seeing some resto pics . Cheers Steve
