Frost stat is in the garage on the wall a few feet from the boiler. I don't think it was anywhere near freezing but when I removed the cover, some of the wires were a bit pinched between the base and cover but appeared to be undamaged. The associated pipe stat is on the boiler return near the floor and covered in cobwebs but otherwise dry.

  6. Out of interest, what "breaker" tripped? Must've been one hell of a leak to cause that.

  7. Your problem is obviously with the Turbo Encabulator (0:45)

Obviously...and for what it's worth I think they may have fitted the durdle spring counter rotative to the positive encapsulation vector!

  9. Easily fixed by wrapping some PTFE tape around it

You're not far off there! I wrapped a paper tissue round the leak to absorb and disperse it. So far so good!

  11. Probably just an age thing...

Main rccd on the main dist board. Doesn't take much to do that.

Everything begins to leak after a certain age!

  14. It does prevent side-fumbling, tho'

  15. Was a Southern RCD, or a Yorkshire one? A proper YRCD can handle hundreds of amps before tripping. They've 'ad worse.

I thought it was the anti-vergulation flap connection to the giggling valve that prevented most of that!

  19. A popular misconception. They fit a new flap so they can charge you an hour's labour.

Well that doesn't surprise me in the least! Are new flaps readily available or does one have to hunt around to find one....or even a good used one?
