Heater question.

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Poptop2, Oct 9, 2013.

  1. A heated front screen! Or rain x do a cleaner that minimises the misting, so when you clean the inside of your screen just use that. Other than that, on a late bay at least, all controls to the bottom.

    You're not being very helpful!

What's a beaufort scale, Is it something to do with fishing?

  5. You do have a fan...in the engine. Soft breeze at idle, great wafts of heat when cruising. I had to turn mine right down on the motorway yesterday - too bloody hot!

I meant other then the main blower mate. I know that some people have auxiliary fans to supplement the blower and wondered what and where?

  7. If you've got original heat exchangers, you're unlikely to need additional fans. You'd be sweating!

I don't mate, I have repro's I am trying to get some ogs and want to do what Dickie did with his and refurb them before fitting.

  9. its all about back pressure and velocity, big opening needs more powerful fan , if you restrict the outlet you will get more velocity on ya ribbon ,more blow as you say ,thats why it seems more at dash, bit like hoover nozzle in reverse smaller hole more suck . get me drift . As said you need ta have a good fan pressure ,ie good fan and if you want ta blow er knickerz off restrict the opening down below :)

So you're saying the lower end sends out less powerful blasts than the top vents?

  11. well the grille has a bigger area so the velocity across it is less.

I am coming to the conclusion that it sends out very little when stationary but a lot more as you drive and the air vents take in more air and forces it through the whole system quicker.

I still have no idea of the actual air pressure from the bottom vents should be like and no idea what mine compares like to others!

  13. your fan turns quicker the faster you go malc , more ooommff

you're not being very helpful again:lol:

Just been out and started her up in the garage and can feel air blowing out of the footwell vents from 5 inches away on tickover nothing after 5inches away. Is that about usual?

  17. I'm the very denizen of helpfulness....bilge blower will do the job if you put it upstream, near the front end....
