think @Dicky may have used a BB one or rigged up his own with a very similar unit.... They certainly boost pressure through the vents, but you need to get the heat up there in the first place....
Effective but noisy. Could do with a speed controler tbh! As above you need heat to be able to fan. A possible issue is that unless your ducts are sealed they will cause fumes to be drawn in to the ducting.
Thanks for the replies. Was thinking more of a defrost boost for the screen rather than general heating but as you say heat needs to get there first! My centre pipe is lagged but I think I need to do more.
Spot on, a large amount of lukewarm air is no better than a trickle of hot air. Much better to sort out the heating system to get it running like when it left the factory Must less expensive would be a "marine engine room fan" - do an eBay search. There's plenty of space to fit them, under the cab above the front "tray"
Look for Bilge Blower on eBay. I fitted one to a beetle once, it was great to use when stuck in traffic as the front vents didn't get much air when engine at idle.
Just make sure you put the bilge blower as far forward as you can - plastic fan blades + the heat at the engine end = meltage...
still hoping to find a 90mm Duct fan with metal impeller....either that, or make one from rocking horse poo and hen's teeth
Really just want it for screen defrost as low revs it takes ages. Be nice as an addition when stuck in traffic. If it's not switched on will it cause a noticeable restriction in the air flow?
the stock heater system won't be hot enough by the time it's reached the front totem to melt atwood type bilge blowers....I had one just after the front cross member reducer and it was fine at full tilt....the biggest bugbear is the noise....hence why If I was to add an aux fan, I'd put it in the engine bay, drawing air from inside the vehicle....
