I blocked up the holes in the tinware where the fan would blow into, what a difference! Got a decent blow of air now. Now I just need a bit of decent weather to get the pipes insulated Sent from my SM-S901B using Tapatalk
Was looking at this snail fan on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16474314...rsY9JV8ub71d9+rgGdf6/d9A==|tkp:Bk9SR5zivsjyYg and in the 2nd picture I see the relay connected to the mounting bracket and that matches the wiring I have in the engine bay, but what then connects to the 2 pins on the fan itself, should I have some other cabling in the engine bay? If anyone could point me to a pic that shows the wires/where they come from that would be good. I do a have a couple of wires cut from the diagnostic connector on the upper right side of the engine bay, I wonder if they have been snipped. Would seem odd they have left some but cut others.
If you have the wiring in the engine bay there should be a fuse and a plug for the relay and a connector for the motor from the relay. Pic from the samba.
Thanks @77 Westy I have the big white connector and the fuse holder on the red wire. I'll take a look tonight where that yellow/black wire is.
You will have to find where to push the pointy thing in to release the clip on the crimp connectors that are pushed into the block in order to replace that wire.
Look on the bright side, at least you have all the other cables, the relay plug and the fuse holder (should be 16amp).
Very true, also makes me think the switch at the heater lever end is hopefully there, need to check this. Sent from my SM-S901B using Tapatalk
Checked out the switch activation on the heater controls and it's all there and working which is good news Sent from my SM-S901B using Tapatalk
Finally got this sorted thanks to Milky 2 having a fan for sale at a very fair price. I've insulated all the heater pipe I can get to, reinstated the blower fan, replaced the cut wiring and added new cardboard hose. The heat is now amazingly toasty and with the blower works well when not on the move, I'm even surprised at how quick the heat starts, only within a mile or two from startup which is great and as I'm only heating a single cab it works really well, far better than my EB Camper! Glad I've got it all sorted in time for this cold weather, I'll be off at 7am tomorrow so this will be the real test.
Thanks, she really draws people in of all ages and loads of people take photo's, it's such a brilliant way of selling. We display an OG VW commercial sales brochure on the dash as so many people would say "did you convert it" or they refuse to believe they left the factory like this. The only downside is it's obviously harder to keep her running well week in week out and in this weather it can test you a little. I'm really hoping to buy another single cab next year so I can fully restore one whilst keeping one on the road but that depends on a few factors mostly centered around having the money to buy another one!
You will like this one then It’s of a great uncle in Holland who used it for his grocery shop. My Nan remembers going on family outings sat on the dining room chairs in the back
