Heater cables...

  1. I've had a look around the forum, have have a good idea about how the heater cables *should* be - and having had some time under my van yesterday, I've realised that although connected at the control, there's a whole load of fresh air between the cables and the exchangers at the back!

However. There are 2 for the heat exchangers, and another for the totem diverter...that I know about...but I've got 4. I can't see any plans or drawings anywhere which show 4 cables.

I *know* I have to order 3 since they're all knackered - but do I need to order the 4th - and if so what in the name of anything sensible is it for?

from memory of our 73, we have four as follows
1 for the lh heat ex
1 for the rh heat ex
    1 for the totem divertor
1 for the walk through vent junction (that blows warm air into the back)

The fourth cable goes to another diverter under the bus level with the front seats which feeds hot air into the rear cabin through a vent just above floor level and parallel to the bulkhead.

On one of the Ratwell microfiche pages it shows the cable and the diverter but ...

It appears that the fourth cable connects to the totem pole diverter valve in some magic way.
There are two holes in the lever on the totem pole valve and only one clamp for a cable on my setup.

Does anybody have a picture of a working setup - answering the question with another question.

  4. I think that middle diverter must be buried under the belly pan...time for more investigations methinks...
