On the joints between the black concertina tube and the h/ex and the y pipe there were white collars to seperate the metal from the plastic of the oncertina tube, but they have disintegrated. Are these the items that would replace them? http://www.customandcommercial.com/...german_quality_heater_pipe_gasket_63-79_6921/ Or http://www.justkampers.com/vw-t2-ba...945-rubber-gasket-for-end-of-heater-tube.html Cheers
they look ok, i made my own with that silver foil tape and insulation bubble wrap, cost £0.00 as i had it in stock
I wouldn't put anything rubber on them (especially JK rubber). Heritage used to do metal sleeves, which work fine.
Hmm I wasn't sure about them, the descriptions don't really help. I considered making something but for now have just jubilee clipped the concertinas to the metal on the h/x and y pipe. Not ideal but i am getting some heat/blow at the cab so it's an improvement on nothing, which I had before! Was trying to find bits to order to get up to free delivery level Maybe try something with exhaust bandage??
Fair play zed, if you say they're ok that's good enough for me Surely you mean "as I found it at work"! That's where I "find" my swarfega!
Maybe don't get them from JK as their heating parts have been known to melt and they don't appear to give a monkeys.
it might depend on whether you have repro heat exchangers or OG ones, I have the JK rubbers on repro heat exchangers and they have not melted.
for info i have original exchangers and the bodge ones i made are fine, inside the flexi pipes though one of the ceramic? collars had broken which in turn had let the edge of the plastic melt inside the tube, luckily i had 2 spares so i've refitted all as correct.
are the innards of the concertinas available to buy anywhere? i couldnt see them anywhere, some of my bits sre a bit ropey of course
I went to fit a JK heater tube kit today, and can't figure it out where those rubber gaskets would go. I assume the gaskets are just for original tubes which are a different design to the JK ones? Also the JK tubes are different diameters at either end - the larger end which has some sort of ceramic (maybe?) material between the sleeve and plastic slots over either the HE or the Y pipe is ok, but the other end just has a metal sleeve straight over the plastic and is too tight. It goes over ok if I remove the metal sleeve but surely this wouldn't be right.... I don't know if anyone else has experience of trying to fit these? I wonder if this explains all the stories I see about melting JK tubes although it really doesn't help me today when I am trying to fit them and get my bus back on the road
