  1. I've been looking for a right hand side exchanger and have found one like this....

But what I need is this.....

Question is, could I cut the tops off??

  2. the first one is an earlier typ4 bus exchanger. The second one is a type 25 one which isnt right for a bay.

the bottom one hasnt got the riser feed from the snail fan anyway and doesn't mate to the type 4 fan.....

oh hang on you mean could you buy the top one and cut it flush........ i guess if the stud holes line up and you cut it level? possibly?

  5. what is it you are trying to do\. what bus do you have?

  6. I've got a 2 litre engine from a T25, obviously the heat exchangers aren't the same but Ive got the left hand side one ok with the holes in the right place as the top one but need the right hand side one so was wondering if I could just cut the tops off?

  7. Sorry it's just the fittings I need to adjust on the top one :)

  8. Actually the T25 heat exchanges will fit a Bay. Birdy has just removed my T25 exchangers and replaced them with T2 ones as the T25 ones are about 50mm longer so were pushing my CSP Python out so my tow bar wouldn't fit. So now I have a set of T25 heat exchangers to get rid of.... Oh and I need to get some blanking plates to weld over some of the connections as I've no heat currently due to my Porsche Fan conversion - ho hum!

  9. Yeh that's the one, I've got one T25 on the right hand side but need the scoops bit that links to the bottom of the fan housing like the top piccy?

  10. Bit of a difference eh?

  11. I think I'm going to need them as Birdy says he'll make up a connector so I get some heating. Perhaps you could cut of the connector bit and weld to the exchanger?? There's one on ebay (Seller is in Eastbourne) at the moment starting at £20 - bit rough but then again...

  12. Mmmnn, how much did they set you back?

  13. £200 a side (winces and takes a sharp intake of breath!) Hope I can flog on the T25 ones as they have only done 800 miles (they're not the ones in the photos so in much better nick!)

  14. Yeah that's the price I've seen. Right see how I get on with a saw perhaps :)

I have a pair of old ones - T2 style, but square ports - they do exist. Ones a bit knacked but the other is ok. I'll have a look tomorrow for you and see which is which.
Yes you can cut the oval exhaust port bit off to convert to square port.
And yes for T25 exchangers in a bay heating stylee - just adapted a bus to feed only from the aux fan and it blows a gale with plenty of heat.;)

Lardy - gis a ring tomorrow daytime and I'll look then and there - if it's usable and you want it you can have it for a drink if you come and fetch seeing as it's you.

  16. I may be missing the point but I dont think you can have a type 2 one on one side and a T 25 one on the other as they are different lengths to the silencer as said above but I may be missing the point.

No, you do need a matched pair for the length. T25 ones do fit on a bay though - I have one in the workshop.

  18. Yep I know ive had em too as I did briefly have a T25 engine in mine but did the conversion ie swap over to bay but never got around to swapping the exchangers. Never tried plumbing the t25 exchanger into the leccy fan though as routing the pipes was difficult.

Was it? I'll take a pic as I don't remember too much trouble and the pipes all flowed smoothly. I was very surpised just how much air blasted out of the vents. Quite a success.

  20. Cheers Zed just need the right side one :)
Thinking about the size, I wondered why the exhaust wasn't flush, glad I asked now :)
