WANTED Heat exchangers for 2 ltr engine

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by Lardy, Apr 5, 2013.

  1. Hi, anybody got any shot/ broken/ unwanted heat exchangers? I'm looking to use the inner piping to make up some sort of J pipes as I intend on buying an alternative heater for inside? Let me know, thanku :)

  2. If you get any with decent casings mate then I will have the casings off you!

  3. Ok fella :)

  4. This is what they look like without the covers. Not sure how feasible it would be to melt the Ally off but whats left would be J tubes!

  5. Ooh! Thought they would be just the tubes running through a louvred casing! That's not quite what I was thinking? Maybe I could just cut the ends off and bend new pipes?

  6. I have some for a 2.0litre but with square port heads 79 only. They any good to you?

You better off leaving them whole even if you don't connect them to anything. Then you will have something to fix the bottom tinware to and stop the air getting out the wrong way.

  12. If you are after the earlier oval ported ones I have 2 pairs. One that are very poor and one set that are off a running bus engine and good.

You can have the poor ones for nothing if you really want them mate. The others for moneys ;)

...and if you have the later heads and early exchangers, did you know you can cut the extra off the early HX's and fit them? ;)

    matt and Lardy like this.
  16. Cheers Zed :)

  17. I did not know that!

  18. This is good info. Does it really work as the ports look different as do the bolt patterns...
