Heat Exchangers 2 litre T4

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by kenward, Oct 20, 2013.

  1. Can you tell from the pics if my heat exchangers are genuine or pattern? have found info on 1600cc type and understand the pattern ones give poor heat due to lack of fins, is it the same problem with T4 pattern heat exchangers? Trying to work out if i repair them or replace.
    Thanks

  5. Excellent, thanks all, worth repairing then.
Is there anything you would recommend to paint/coat them or do they just get to hot?

  7. look good and original. good clean and paint and assuming you refit all the necessary bits then expect some decent heat output!! The heat resistant paint I used hasnt lasted very well. Cleaned mine up to the point of looking very shiny steel and followed the instructions so chose well and take advice from someone that has had good results.

  8. thanks all

  9. I bare metalled mine and painted with black rustoleum no primer. No flaking yet and a good few motorway runs under my belt
