  1. one of my heat exchangers is loose and rattles a bit.
can they be fixed as it will let any of the little heat I get out of it anyway.
do I weld to the inner pipe or hammer it tighter and fill around with gum gum paste.
    any ideas..

Weld the straps back on that bolt to the bottom tinware to reduce rattling. Hammer back down and try with gun gum.

  3. they are loose to the inner pipe, so was thinking to tap all the way round making a better tighter fit and then gum gum as a final seal

  4. The outers can come loose. You might try crimping it somehow. I'd imagine if you welded it, something would eventually give as the thick inner pipe is going to expand at a different rate to the thin outer.

  5. right then, give it a good bashing.............

  6. I've got one quiet one, and one rattler...drives me nuts!

I noticed when I was restoring mine that the outside was welded to the pipe everywhere the pipe came out. The repros I pinched the skins from were not welded.
