hi i am renewing my exhaust on my 73 bay will i have to change my heat chambers . or renew all heating pipes and test them.
is this a question? if yes, what is? don't change your heat exchangers, repair them, aftermarket ones are just as good as J-tubes.
where are they broken? you weld them. usually the pipe that goes in the muffler rots, you cut it out and weld in a new one it's outer diameter is 35mm same as intake manifold (hint) Or if the outer skin gets holes in it, patch and weld.
Depends what's broken. But have to say unless it's a dry state import they are unlikely to be original ones.
depends on what damage and where? my exchangers were holed in outer casing ,so after consulting tlb jury i removed em from vehicle cleaned em "dum dum ed" the holes ,once dry i then exhaust bandaged same and re dum dummed em ,not content wiv that overkill i then stove spray painted em , was worth doing ,got some real proper heat ,cost of materials £20 the lot
i am new to all this and i thought they had parts inside that packed up , so if the out sides are not rusty i should be happy
inside the outer skin it is a lot of metal fins (imagine a heat sink on a computer chip) the exhaust itself warms that, the outer tin sheilds it and channels it to your orher parts, if the tin is ok the inside should be.
