i got carpet under lay glued to tintop bits its cloud 9 stuff about 1 inch thick lol. i aquired a new liner still in wrapper from a friend in exchange for some fixings i did but i need to buy some bars from heritage 5 quid each
might be worth double checking the one you got from your mate as some only have 7 seams you could probably get away with leaving the glued on stuff in place as extra insulation as when the rods are in place there is about a 2inch gap between the roof and headliner always trial fit before you cut or glue anything, and keep your hands and tools clean so you don't mark the new head liner
A tip I was given the other day by a local interior specialist guy was to buy original rods not the repro ones. apparently makes life a lot easier.
