Headlamp question

  1. I have the late style headlamps on my bus the ones where the glass lense and the reflector is all one unit

They have a metal shield inside to reflect the light from the old style bulbs back onto the reflector bowl
However as im fitting modern halogen bulbs these already have the bulb capped presumably to perform the same function

So am i right in thinking the original metal shield inside are now of no use and could be removed and if i did remove them would i gain any brightness?

I took mine out from the old three screw hella type headlamps, it does make em brighter
