hard to start when warm following electrical short

  1. Swapped my carbs yesterday and I left one of the electrical spade connections uncovered (there are 4 connections to my old carbs but only 1 to the new carbs) - anyway when I started the bus it has obviously touched earth and melted them outer plastic wire covering, so earthing the positive side of the coil.

Now its harder to start, especially from warm.

In fact, when I try to start it from warm it turns over and over and only fires when you let go of the key, so it appears that there is no power to the coil when the key is in the cranking position.

Bus is fitted with electronic ignition module inside the dizzy.

    Tried changing the coil.

Have I damaged something when the short occurred?
