    Well, that is defo a Torx - but should it be?

    otherwise we are back to not using security bits for heavy duty work.
     
  5. Would've been hex or trisquare originally. Don't think Torx had been invented in the 70s.
     
  6. The replacement bolts are brand new from the main dealer so I’d say they are what they should be.

  9. Why did car manufacturers change to torx headed bolts there awfull things compared to a hex headed bolt.
     
  10. Because hex heads are awful and round off. Torx much better if you're assembling stuff at the factory with an air driver.

  15. There a nightmare when they have been underneath a car for many years though
    I’d rather have to deal with a hex head bolt with rounded corners than a torx where the splines crumble with corrosion.

    So are torx better than splines.
    Maybe ribbed could be tighter.:eek:
