  1. Hi there

I'm Jim from boring Bath. I have a 75 double-top bay that I am trying to breathe some new life into as it's been off the road for around a year and half. My girlfriend and i have grand ideas of driving it around Europe for a few months next year so I really need to get my skates on with getting this thing back up together!

My buddy and I have managed to build and fit an engine since I managed to seize my last one but it's taken a while. We're currently doing a few jobs to try and get it MOT-fit.

Thought I'd better getting round to registering on here as I will be needing some sage advice from you guys on here. I am a complete novice so I hope you dont mind some real dumb questions!

So yeah - please to meet you all :)

    Hello!

  13. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I think i have some pics of the van during its happier times around somewhere - I'll try and dig em out and post em in a bit.

So - dumb question number 1:

I have 2 new cab doors - I have finally got round to buying some after finding that the existing ones are full of filler - and I need to get them painted up so i can fit them. I have got the paint code for the lower panel of the door which is an Orient Blue (cant remember the number but I know I have it written down with all the van docs at home) but i dont have the code for the upper white bit that frames the window.

Does anyone know of a standard VW white paint code used in the 70s that would be appropriate? Or could anyone point me in the direction of any useful website that could help me out with this one?

Also - sorry for my rubbish terminology with my descriptions - I am keen to learn though so please feel free to correct me! Should I be posting this question on one of the other forums? I just thought I might get away with it just this once being a newb :)

  14. welcome to the site mate :)

paint can fade with age so you might get a better match (for top and bottom) by going to your local paint specialist. They will mix up paint exactly the right shade for your bus ...............and probably cheaper than Halfruads
