Guess The Age Of My Lungs

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by marowak, Oct 9, 2012.

  1. I have had on going health issues with my chest and lungs and a constant cough for a few months now.

Today I went to the doctors (after already going for the last 4 weeks) and had a number of tests for Asthma (which I dont have) but they did say my lungs do not match that of my age. In the mean time I am waiting for the results of a chest x-ray and further investigations.

I am an ex-smoker and gave up 7 years ago ... but it seems to have had a lasting effect on my health.

I am 33 but my lungs are closer to what age?

I will put the correct answer here later in the week ....

I get asthma, it got worse when i moved to brighton, even if you don't have asthma, it might be an environmental thing.

  9. my old dad had asthma, docs said living in a damp , as in the weather, area was seriously bad for condition (west of Scotland constantly wet area.

  10. I had a persistent cough once and the doctors didn't want to know. Then the Practice got sold and new doctors came along. After many long talks and tests it turned out that I was allergic to my coal-fired Aga. When damp coal was tipped in the top, it often sprayed out black stuff and it was either that - or the ash in the collecting pan that was causing it. Amazing what a new doctor can do. I now avoid coal fires.

Do you have a coal fire?

  12. As a human being, our bodies are constantly changing.
Cells grow, die and get replaced by new ones various times per month.

So I wouldn't expect any part of your body to be much more than two years old.

  13. How do they work this out anyway?

  14. 65.

an undiagnosed milk allergy can manifest as asthma, chronic bronchitis and sinusitis. cut out dairy protein (you can't even have lactose free stuff) and see if it gets better.

i suffered for years until i was finally diagnosed correctly, but now no dairy unless i want to suffer :'(
