I hate giving up on things. As a novice, I've tried several times to get my van to run satisfactory. Adjusting timing, valves, carbs and it just ain't right. I'm sad to report I've given up and gonna leave it with RNJ for a while. See if he can crack it. I'm thinking that maybe I can maintain it once its working proper
If learning maintenance, always better to start from a known good situation, then when stuff goes wrong it's usually one thing you're trying to find, not multiple things.
Yeh was thinking that Owen. Can't say I haven't tried. I've given it 10 or 12 hrs but something's not quite right. Never mind Rob will sort it hopefully.
Maybe zed. I really don't know. I've replaced all hoses, gaskets and other simple stuff but its still the same. It's a learning curve for me as a. Newb. I've learnt loads in the last few months but obviously not enough LOL. I still love it. I love driving the van makes me smile like a Cheshire Cat
Rob at RNJ did the chassis resto (and mods) on mine and did a wicked job as always...he even got the carb running right after T2D *****ed it up.
Zed. Youre a genius. RNJ just rang. A few other things not quite right but there was an air leak at the base of the carb. Carb not sealing correctly to manifold. Big up to you sir.
I am but I have to play it down or I'd have too much work. Today I heard a scraping sound from a clutch. I guessed it had a late clutch fitted in an early box. I took the engine out and I was right.
PMSL at you two. I'm just really excited to be getting my van back in the morning. As a brucie bonus he's fixed my ignition switch too and a new barrel so I have 1 key for the whole van.
I did all the outside ones weeks ago but Didnt want to fiddle with the ignition whilst I was using it regularly. I had the bits just needed the time to sort it. I'm glad it's all done now. Nice to not have a huge bunch of keys
