  1. Hi and greeting from Sligo on the beautiful Irish Northwest Coast! My wife and I restored "Barney" a pretty sad 1973 late bay over the last couple of years and he was finally finished (are they ever finished???) earlier this year. We own a small car dealership here and fortunately were able to do almost all the work ourselves. I've included a couple of pics of the result. It's certainly not a purist restoration but its the way we wanted it! Anyway, I look forward to this site being a great resource going forward. Get you and your bus over our way if you get a chance - we have perfect roads, scenery and pubs to make the best of you VW!
    Cheers

  11. Lovely bus, great colours. I was really considering red and cream,

Can I ask what the colour codes are

Sligo is the first place I will be hitting when I have my bus finished in 201?

Welcome to the forum! Your westy looks stunning, looks really nice all round!

  17. Thanks for all the kind words folks! The red is Landrover "Alveston" red metallic and the cream is vw pastel white which we tinted a couple of shades creamier! I have the codes somewhere (I hope!!) and will post them when I locate them.

    welcome :)

  19. welcome, that looks sweet! can you recall how you lowered it please? sits nice that!

  20. Strange now that you mention it brucieboy but lowering it was the one job we didn't have to do!! The previous owner had done quite a bit of work underneath. There's a spindle on the front beam which is welded a couple of notches down - I'm pretty certain I've seen similar kits advertised around the net. I actually have no idea how the rear is lowered- though I'm sure someone on here will be along in a few minutes with an explanation!
