Wired in my 944 Rev Counter (coil negative, a live feed and earth) just a temporary housing of a flower pot....looks okay! ...but indicators stopped working for no reason, fuses okay, all wiring attached to the fuse board, can only think I have caused an issue with the earth/s on the front panel...does that make sense????
Yea, reckon that's right, fuse for indicators is on 11 so I probably pushed a line off and didn't look hard enough when I checked the fuse box !! it'll have to wait un till tomorrow now...
Not only upside down but trying to look through the right part of my vari-focals! Cheers zed - I'll check that when I look for my lose wire! B
When fiddling with the fusebox, I find it best to take the glove box liner out, or even disconnect the battery and undo the two fusebox mounting screws so it flops down. Get a much better view!
What happens a lot is the wire terminals that go on the fuse box break on one side do the hazards work
Hi matty, no the hazards don't work either, the tell-tale on the switch lights but no action at the indicators. When the indicators are turned on the ignition light and gen light do flicker (engine off) so I assume the relay is okay - as snotty says, I reckon I have nudged the connections on 11 as I connected the rev. and its either come off or, as you say I have broken the terminal. I assume I can replace one of the male terminal ends with a double if I need to. Cheers B
Yes, I also reckon you've nudged something. When I do anything near the battery, invariably one or more connections to the rear light cluster come off
Well....no wires lose or disconnected, have gone back to square one and disconnected the rev, still no worky - could the relay have taken a turn for the worse? As I say with ignition on the oil and gen dash lights do dim if I put the indicators on, so something is trying to send power to the flashers...
Of the hazards aren't working either then you've either dislodged something at the switch or the relay. Or the relay is faulty
Might be worth removing the relay & cleaning the connections. Bit like twiddling the torpedo fuses - sometimes you get a bit of oxide/corrosion which breaks the circuit. Also check relay isn't full of water (shake it).
Thanks guys, of the 3 relays I assume the hazard/indicator one is on the right (as you look at the fuse box) below fuse 11?
Thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction - water logged relay was the culprit. As I fiddled with the fuse box must have shaken the water around the gubbins inside the relay - Cheers B
Aha! Problem solved Top tips for fault finding: 1. Never jump to conclusions, 2. Believe in coincidences (they do exist)!
