Excellent! We've had ours just under a year now. We're kind of feeling our way in the dark at the moment, gathering what bits of knowledge we can get mixed with just planting stuff and seeing what happens :), but our taters are coming along, and we've already had some lovely cabbages n rhubarb.....it's all out war on the slugs though, we've tried using nematodes, and eggs shells, and yesterday we were putting sharp sand around our brassicas ( ooh er missus), n other recently planted stuff. I'll have to take a pic of our view when I get a chance, no river to look out on though....

  2. I found some stuff at a local garden centre which is like wool? You put the pellets down, water and they puff up, apparently the slugs don't like them. I've netted a couple of areas to keep pests out but unfortunately the pidgeons got to my peas :(

  3. It will get sorted one way or another dude ive come through a lot worse before

Bit of a shame that im not going to be able to harvest the veg patch this year:(

  5. Just an update has haven't really posted much on this but.....
Early potatoes were a massive success, late potatoes are in and can't wait to dig them up in the coming months.
Carrots weren't such a success as I planted the whole packet in three rows, when thinning I just pulled out most of the seedlings.
Left them alone in case carrot fly attacked which they did eventually. Lessons learnt on that front.
Beetroot were pretty similar unfortunately but I have had success with onions, shallots and garlic :)
But more practice to set carrots next year and all the early potatoes now eaten but have a couple of wee pics to show you of my garlic and shallots.
All topped off with top notch home brew ale and it's been a success in my eyes :) image.jpg image.jpg

  6. Oh and the entire shed floor on the allotment which is a 7x7 is today covered in onions lol!
Have to get out the chicken wire and make a couple of racks to store them in the next couple of days, don't want to be turning that amount of onions every couple of days haha!
Anyway, hopefully I'll be at a meet sometime this year and be abLe to hand out some of my home grown products :)
