Hi all Since buying my camper late last year, the gear shift has made a loud metal on metal noise from under the middle of the van. Not gear crunching. I've tracked down the noise to the shaft as it passes under the floor towards the coupling above the Y shape of the heater conduit (see photos). Just infront of this, the shaft comes out of a tube via some slightly perished bellows. The rod after this is scraping the 2 metal struts that look like 2 mini RSJs with round holes. I was wondering if there are meant to be some support brackets or something to hold the rod between the bellows and the coupling? Thanks
What about checking the other connection point back towards the cab number 17 and 11 on the diagram could of gone loose and made it drop a bit .
There is a bush in the shift rod tube that over time falls apart. looks like 13 and 16 as gone. plus the rod has defo dropped Changing 13 and 15 isn't an easy fix. I have a job coming in with the same issue, its common
Has someone cut the end of the outer tube off? The last 12"? It should continue through all the top hats.
Long time since I looked at mine, but is the outer conduit that the shuttlecocks (13 & 16) live in still there?
Thanks all Will check further forward for drooping parts! I hope it is not the bushes as I've read it's an engine and gearbox out job....aaagh Between the final bellows and the coupler there is no outer tube that I can see. 13 to 16 is there. The diagram does not give any indication of how long that piece of exposed rod is after tube 18 stops. Mine, from the picture is about a foot long after the bellows.
Not all of it, I suspect the rear shuttlecock part has gone walkies. It should continue through the support nearest the coupler with barely any exposed.
Actually, if you buy the bush kit and get the 13 or 16 bush( there is a ring that goes with it) you could find a pic of what the bush mount looks like , make that and weld it in between 10 and 11. polish the rod were the bush is going to be positioned.
