Gear shift rod, holes dont align?

  1. Went to fit the gear shift rod today and the holes dont line up, the long one from the gear box exits with 2 indents facing down, if the front rod is anywhere near upright i have a choice of two holes 90 degrees apart but neither are anywhere close to the indents? could it be a LHD rod? is there a difference?

    Is it a new one?

  3. No its an old one, god know how it was originally, the long rear rod must be correct and that gives me two indents facing down, either of the two holes on the front one if used would mean they are nowhere near upright enough to get the gear stick in

  4. The way the whole car has been put together it wouldnt surprise me if the sq headed bolt was just tightened up no where near the indents

Replacements used to be avaiable, but they were as you describe and needed adapting. Perhaps you have one of those?

  6. Is the ball socket end meant to be upright? i can easily drill a hole in the correct place if i know what position it should be
