Gear shift bushes, where does this one go?

  1. I stripped the gear linkage out today and i think i know where most of the JK bushes go

The bottom three are for various years and the top L and middle are for the rear rod BUT where does the top R one go?

  2. Unfortunately, it's pointless asking, as they won't fit anyway. They are notoriously crap. I don't know why JK still sell them.

Check that the centre middle front one actually fits the hole in your van. They're sometimes too small for the crossmember.

Apart from the above, the kit's a bargain ;)

PS I'd suggest you clean re-use the old ones for the selector rod.

  3. the one on the top right is for splitties and beetles :D

  4. Bugger it! the old ones are well worn, whos the best supplier for them/

  5. Cheers thought that had answered it until i read Snottys reply:D

The front one for a late late rattles around in the bracket as snotty said, and unless you don't actually have one at all will make your gear selection worse.
You can make a good one out of one of the other bits though if you're determined.
The shuttlecocks are for a brazillian bay and don't fit without yet again some adapting.
It's a good selection of bits to make things out of though - better than a kick in the ***** so worth getting as long as you don't expect a 10 minute miracle. :D

  7. i noticed also that GSF sell the individual components for about £3 each, which is better than paying £20 for a set that you only use half of, like i did.

  8. Another five minute job that will take all morning then:(

So the round donut one goes in the front steel part of the chassis, the bit that looks like a cross member?

And it's supposed to be tight so that the selector rod slides in an out but doesn't waggle about?

  11. Yup. If it's the wrong size, it'll waggle from side to side a bit.

They're tight on the shift rod, but loose in the housing in my experience. Last time I made one from one of the other bits in the kit - I forget which.

  13. I used the a jk part for our 72 crossover, in the gear linkage, but that was the small type bung on and it fitted just fine, I have not tried the others but very pleased I read this before stripping the rest of the linkage out and buying other bits .........

  15. GSF?

  16. really glad i read this just about to do this to my van. ill take linkage out and clean and check whats there before buying anything.
Why do people sell stuff not fit for purpose?
Why dont we send stuff back get refunds and complain properly?
