if so did you put a rack in to keep the wood off

i made one but its not a scratch on yours, and in answer to your questions
    no
    and
    no
just put lots of air holes in the bottom, think a rack at the bottom would be a good idea though!

looking good it on my list of things to do
wood burns best on a bed of ash so i would not bother with a grill

  4. I haven't made one of these, but I do have a washing machine drum burner which works well. turned the drive ring around to use as a stand for it.

  5. Here's mine, girlfriends dad made it at work :)

  6. Adding a baffle will stop the flames from just going up the chimney.
We added one to the last one i made and it seemed to make quite a bit of difference to the heat it produced. No idea why.

  9. Hello,

I built this one a couple of years ago

Put a baffle in the chimney stub to control the burn, but a deflector plate in the burner section would have been a good idea.
    All re-cycled parts

We've had that chimney glowing red a few times

  10. Ive made and sold a few items made from gas bottles

  11. Handy hotplate for the kettle too. Very nice. :)

  12. I have thought about making a couple of these as we have a few gas bottles floating around at work that are empty :)

A mate of mine also turns old gas bottles into letter boxes. He makes them into pieces of sculpture, we had one he made which was in the shape of a Kookaburra.

the one in my workshop gives off loads of heat, no baffles or anything, the chimney gets red hot too so acts as a radiator i suppose!

  15. Here's Annie the Ardavark given to me on christmas morning from Mr B - now I know why I was banned from the garage

Just need to give her a new coat of paint :)

Flap to shut the chimmney down:

    Adjustable air intake (it turns)

And the door to fill it up:

    Can't wait to try it!

The handle on the door and chimmney stack are made from Zodiac gear selectors, the chimmney is the prop from said zodiac, the eyes are gear box parts from the same, and the nose is the rear cone from the gear box, and the ears are transit bottom ball joints!

Oh and no rack in the bottom for the wood! :p

    ;D
