Fuel vapour pipe connections

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by cabbieman, Aug 13, 2013.

  1. My type4 has 2 fuel vapour pipes meeting in the middle with a knackered old split t piece. My question is, where and how should I vent these. I don't have an air filter. Presumably I don't want to leave them open as the fumes will enter through the inspection hatch
    Thanks

  2. You don't have an air filter?

  3. No, just 2 carbs on a 2 ltr

  4. With air filters. Tap a connecting pipe into the filters
    :)

  5. So I just make a hole in either of the filters then run a pipe of the t piece into the filter?

  6. Cheers guys

  7. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Don't put a nut inside the filter. ;)

  8. Good point zed, don't want anything falling in. If I just crudely stick the pipe through the filter tho, that would be ok wouldn't it? It's only fumes going in so it shouldn't move about or pop off

  9. Drill a hole in one of the caps and stick a rubber grommet in it. That should hold the pipe.
