  1. tomorrow i have to replace fuel tank outlet and wanted to know which is best,i hear the little filter that goes inside the tank gets clogged up and didn't know if it was needed or to leave it out.
tank will be flushed through before putting back together again, also would you put plumbers tape around thread of nut or thread lock of some sort or again is it not needed
oh how i looove the smell of petrol,not...
    cheers

  2. I left filter out as it wouldnt do up with filter attached...not sure weather or not i used ptfe tape or not ....i might have ....

  3. better off with a pre-filter before the pump that you can get at.....thread lock will be fine

  4. Late bay tanks deleted the mesh sock on the outlet
Im not sure if it was a cost saving exercise or because they collapsed and fouled the outlet

There should be no need for any sealing tape

  5. Did that nut i sent you fit ok?

  6. cheers guys got it done today..
the leak was from the nut itself which had 2 cracks which you couldn't see from the outside and someone had filled around the pipe with sealant (kno*s)
didn't use tape but put filter in as one was in and put in a new inline filter, flushed it a couple of times and only got a little bit of carp out of it. because i was under there anyway thought i'd sort out the oil leak from the regulator plug, wish i hadn't bothered as i forgot i have an extra oil cooler an it took forever for it to drain and the valve didn't want to come out so went for a brew. came back and it had come out on its own, barsteward...
so cleaned up the seat for screw plug with a fine file as it was a bit rough, new crush washer on so all good now.(hopefully)
cheers para for nut, thats sorted too..
