Fuel tank test fit how much gap?

Just test fitted my fuel tank and noticed a gap....



Every thing seems snug, anyone know if its alright?

pretty sure mine was similar to that, will have a look while underneath tomorrow. as long as its solid when the straps are bolted down......

The felt pads between the tank underside and the platform must be around 6 - 8mm thick so there will be a gap.

 

There's also a foam seal round the tank hole.

 

I'd forgotten that bit...the absence of which allows a build up of crud in the worst possible place! Good job one of us is awake.

I'm only half as worried as @volkswombat because I have felt pads but don't have a foam seal.

 

Your tank compartment will fill with water, and your life will be ruined, I'm afraid ...

What makes it even worse is the fact that I'm supposed to be doing my accounts. Procrastination is alive and well. There's loads of days until 31st Jan.

 

I know that feeling . I've submitted tax returns at 23:59 on the 30th of Jan before now...

 

Cheers everyone - do we think that the foam will plug my gap or do I need to tap my repairs down a bit more (read go mad with hammers...)
