Hi everybody I'm new on here, I have a 1973 bay and it's looking that I might have to do some repairs to the panel that the fuel tank sits on. Does anybody out there know if I will be able to get hold of a full panel, or will it be sheet steel repair. I've not had the tank out yet just seen it from underneath, and I won't be doing just yet neither, I live in Scotland and it's -7 here at the moment ( lol! ] .
as far as I know only the part that goes between the wheel tubs is available as reproduction (lower half of #23 below). these came as one piece from the factory.
Iv yet to see a panel for that. It might be worth asking Schofields though, if anyone makes one it will be them.
Got any photos? IIRC they rot under where the fuel tank sits on felt pads, the pads soak up condensation or water that gets in and rot out. Mine was ok apart from those two holes, the rest was very crusty but cleaned up ok. Have a good look at the tank when it's out and pull off any felt pads as you might find heavy pitting underneath, mine was wafer thin. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
No I haven't got any photos yet, I'll try Scohfields see if they do one. Looking from the underside it's around the fuel outlet where it seems to be worse.
