Fuel pump

  1. can anyone give me some advice re electric fuel pumps, mine has packed up and AA man said this is common with them when they get older.
    What is there available ?
Van is running with twin 60's on a 2 litre engine, quite quick !! For a standard bay
Someone mentioned pump that worked on a pulse system without any moving parts but can't seem to find out any more.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Cheers

  2. No one got any ideas yet?

  3. When mine packed up it was simply that the earthing wire had come away from its mooring. Happens a lot apparently. Tried checking that?

  4. Nah the problem is it works for about 10 mins, gets warm and can't create enough pressure to maintain the fuel flow so starves the engine.
When the pump cools down around 20 mins by the roadside she starts quite easily and goes on her way for another short jaunt until she hyperventilated again
Looking for a pump that apparently has no moving parts so won't overheat

  5. What pump do you currently have, and where is it located?
Mine's a CB rotary pump fitted under the van near the fuel tank outlet.

Seems to work OK, but it's fairly noisy although you can't hear it once the engine has started...

  6. Don't know the type, it's bolted to the engine near where the original pump would have been
Ie near the tank low level

  7. I use one of these bought off eBay minus scene tax
    eBay no
    130703739634

  8. Just by a Facet cube type one - used one on my MG - cheap on ebay

  9. But crap and noisy and they get hot ....the CB rotary ones get good press

  10. Hot in the noisy cupboard though
