fuel pressure regulator with Dells and mechanical pump.

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Dicky, Jan 21, 2020.

  1. Never got around to fitting one to mine and generally it runs rich. Before having another go at getting it right then I need to get the fuel properly regulated. Anyone running a mech pump and regulator with dells. What do you have fitted? Does it work?

advice and opinions greatly anticipated as usual. Thanks in advance!

  2. Yes, Sir. A Malpassi filter King, although a Petrol King (without the filter) would be just as good. I wouldn't really trust anything else.

If your float bowels overfloweth, Eurocarb will sell you some Viton-tipped float needles, which are supposed to be good for up to 5psi.

If it's any consolation, my Dells run rich as well. Must get round to tweaking them one day...

  5. Also..... fit to fire wall ok? Is it just plastic filters we don’t like in the engine bay I can’t remember.

  6. That's the jobber! I fitted mine hanging off the old 70's diagnostic port, think it's called the T port?

  7. Bit posh. Do you have the gauge on there permanently?

  8. Looks like the one. Don’t get the larger version - it’s as big as a bloody dustbin.

If you don’t need the filter, get the Petrol King, which is just the regulator.

  9. Spose the question I haven’t asked is what to set it at? Below 3??

  10. Yes, handy, when the bloody needle valves stick

  12. Ha! I meant bowls, not bowels...

  13. The only advantage of the bigger one is the pressure gauge mounts on the regulator, rather than inline, but yes, a dustbin is a good description.

  14. Overflowing bowels is awful nasty, avoid them, if you can......

  16. Didn’t know that was a thing! Stuck shut I assume! That’s gonna be interesting as it’s only going to be 1 carb at a time!

  17. Right. Gonna have a read on euro carb. Tempted to swap out the float valves but will do the later when I start faffing with the Jets. Haven’t asked another obvious question. What size idles? (I’m asking but bolloced if I can recall what mine are! I’m running 28vents.thats about all I can recall!

  20. This, or next, weekend's job, hopefully. One side tends to stick, it floods the carb and makes the engine misfire like buggary, until you whack the offending carb with the camping mallet.

PS could be the float sticking, I guess, won't know until I get at them.
