Fuel leak:

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by agaric, Aug 5, 2018.

  1. Passenger side breather as been disconnected from the system at some point.
And I think the line running accross the engine bay has been clamped using a weird solenoid.

  2. I went for some rubber cable end and tape. But the idea was the same.

    Jeez. Hackery...

It will also leak if you visit the Cornish Seal Sanctuary.. their car park is about 15% gradient sideways.. not far from the cheap Sainsburys petrol station in Helston.
My leak is the big rubber hose elbow. Another git.

  4. If you’re going to bung the pipe up with a self-tapper, why not attach a relay for no apparent reason? A classic.

  5. I know!
And what scares me the most is that I had my fuel line replaced a few month back by "professionals"...o_O

  6. And they never noticed? Or was this their work?

  7. The relay was there before. I thought this was attached to so kind of dedicated mounting...
All fuel lines are brand new and fine so I guess they just didn't bother with the weird breather setup...

To install a new breather I would need to remove the rear corner right?
Is there any other options? By pass the second breather?

  8. Have you got any breather pipe/capsule in the passenger air vent, or have they sawn it off?

  9. The capsule is there but tube out of it as been cut.

  10. Or possibly rotted off. You may get away with one tank breather. Bung the one by the spare wheel well up securely, take the ridiculous relay off and plumb that pipe into the air filter.

  11. Thanks for all the tips!
Don't you think I should put the relay on the other pipe?
Just for for sake of baffling a future owner ? Or myself next month when illI look at that again...:D

  12. Great idea! Leave it disconnected for extra bafflement...

  14. 20191019_112313.jpg Rather than start a new thread....this is my joint on the LHS... bus stinks of petrol if over filled.

Previous owner had new sender fitted to the tank so I'd expect the tank had to come out for that (???) and hopefully other hoses would have been changed then.

Reckon this is probably first point of call?
