Is there a specific way a fuel filter should be fitted? I've got one of those glass cleanable filters but i'm not sure which way it sould be fitted. Does it actually make a difference at all to the way the filter collects any crud?
is it a trick question they look he same way personally i would throw it in the bin i had one like that and it kept unscrewing its self and leaking
I would us one of the larger steel type modern fuel filters .more expensive but safer and will last longer
The flow is meant to be such that the dead flies and other items collect on the outside of the filter element. This means the element will seal onto a pipe going into the centre of the element at one end. That will be the outlet. Or go to Halfords and buy the £10 metal (cheaper online) filter . HFF200 think it was. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...egoryId=165539&productId=183799&storeId=10001 One of these lasted three 30000 miles cable tied to the chassis rail.
I'd bin it and get a plastic one. I've heard horror stories of the glass breaking, which results in fuel flowing freely everywhere! Plastic ones are cheap, far more resilient, and you can see inside them to check for dirt (and to confirm your pump is working, if its in the engine bay). Metal ones are stronger still, of course. P.
I looked at an identical one on my shelf today (with a view to using a bit of it for something else), it might filter out rice or toenail clippings but I couldn't get it to stay together. Utter rubbish and dangerous.
