Fuel cut off valve?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by doubledecker, Jun 7, 2013.

  1. Thinking of fitting an electronic fuel cut-off valve to my 2.0L (CJ). Seems like sensible thing to do? Anyone got some advice as to fitting and sourcing? Maybe already on here but search did not help.

  2. Have a look under Fuel cut off solenoid, I seem to recall a bit of info on the topic this year. :) Think theyre a great idea having fitted one myself below the fuel tank. Alas the valve I fitted is no longer available in the UK but I'm certain someone on here came up with an alternative.

For security or safety or both?

Were you thinking electric or manual?

Do you have a locking engine bay?

  4. More about safety when not running/ taking pressure off float valves.
Could be manual or electronic. My engine bay has a lock so not worried about security so much.

  5. As fritt said, the one we all bought seems to be discontinued now. Vehicle Wiring Products used to sell something similar.

The main advantage is to be able to shut your fuel off in case of a fire, otherwise the tank will gravity-feed the flames with its contents.
