Having never owned an original set of seats in my bay, I wanted to know the following; the passenger bulk head has been cut out of the bay for a swivel base to be put in, so does an original VW front drivers seat sit up on it's own without having to have a rear bulkhead to support it in order for me to replace the current seat?

  2. On my '77 the drivers seat doesn't use the bulkhead to hold the seat up.

Thanks. If that's the case, I may be able to use a pair of drivers seats....although just checked the price of a late bay seat...£100+!! That's taking the p**s! Has the price of seats suddenly gone up? Saw a pair of westy seats for £300..wtf....i'm sure not everyone who owns a bay has that sort of money!

  4. They do come up. You considered type 25 seats. Thats whats in mine as they are both on runners, same runners as a late bay.

Now that's a good idea! Thank you. Will keep an eye out.

  6. That's exactly what Lord Nelson said...

  7. I also saw those £300 westy seats on ebay (that need recovering) - supply and demand my friend....

They are being overly unhelpful with pictures and info so they're trying it on, £300 is way to much

Agree £300 is way to much, still supply and demand must gave a cut off, because surely at some point people will say no I cannot justify paying x amount!

Yup, that's why they are still for sale , I made a couple of sensible offers, no reply, they have a few more over priced items too

  11. You can expect to pay £400-£600 for a quality pair of restored seats with new seat pads & vinyl seat covers fitted- bear in mind these seats are not made any longer! :)

The ones on eBay need restoring, the bases and backs have sagged and the covers need work, they are £300, £100 won't make them like new £300 probably won't either, but the seller is being evasive about detail and condition and won't supply any more details, they are trying it on

  13. I agree - steer clear of overly expensive seats as more work will deffo be necessary! As long as the frame is intact then a full resto is possible. I bought a mint passenger seat off Ebay for ....... wait for it ...... 99p! I was so embarrassed when I went to collect that I said it was for someone else & had paid by paypal so I didn't have to hand over the cash!! But as Punch would say 'that's the way to do it!' - My advice would be to buy a rough pair then pay Me to restore them for you! :)

Ahhh booooo, I have no seat rails for original seats! That's gonna probably set me back £500 for original ones!!

  15. I have 2 pairs of seats
The one pair has headrests but wrong runners for my 78 bay
So I bought another pair off german ebay with just framework which need restoring
    I'll put pics up later

  19. Im on the search for some t25 seats,my drivers side seat (LHD) has runners but the passenger side has like a type of clip setup.
If i get these t25 seats can the passenger one be bolted in?

I will get them recovered in the Westy plaid material to match the rest of the interior.
