Hello. Can anyone tell us what padding we need for our front seats? They are the 1977 original style seats. We've looked in the heritage parts magazine and cannot figure out which foam or fibre ones we would need. Alternative options/ suppliers would be most welcome. We intend to get them recovered using a local trimmer but the padding really needs to be replaced. Thanks
The padding used in the original is sisal (aka "horse-hair", although it's really coconut). Any trimmer/upholsterer should be able to get it & cut to size. The "proper" padding is ridiculously expensive, as you've found.
Try this off of fleaBay. I saw some awsome pics (here or on Vzi) of someone using this stuff to re-do their late bay front seats. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rubberised-hair-chair-padding-and-car-seats-36-x24-/260866760713?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cbcdee009
