Front Panel replacement costs

  1. Now I know this is bit like asking how long a piece of string is, but I'm looking for some rough ideas on the costs for front panel replacement.

As with so many the front panel is on it's way out around the windscreen so it's going to need replacement at some point in the not so near future. I am just looking for a rough idea of likely costs for replacement from probably 8-10" below the screen and possible inner valance (if that's the right name for it) as well as this isn't looking too good either.

I'm not too fussed about spraying as I have someone who can do that for me, so just need the welding done.

If anyone has had it done and knows what it cost them that would be great. I know it's only ever going to be ball park figures as who knows what will be found once its off, but generally the rest of the van isn't too bad so fingers crossed !!!!!

Any advice will be greatly received.

  2. Just had mine done but a bit more work than your bus - ended up with A post repairs front panel inner outer and air box - new deformation panel, dash top and finished ie front painted - started off at 1250 and ended up adding another 600 onto that!!!

It was pretty well gone once they go in to it!

  3. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

It's as cheap/expensive to replace the whole front panel BTW. I'd recommend that. I could have a look if you're near me.

  4. I got a rust free cali imported front clip from volksheaven £400. Then i tacked a support bar in and took the old front off, (most just pulled off).
Got a mobile welder to come and cut the a posts out and weld the clip on.. Cost£100.

    So £500 in all.

  5. Got mine done (plus a bit of repair work behind) for £600 including paint. Negotiated a fixed price before the job.
