Hi Roughly how much work is involved in replacing the complete front panel? I need to get some quotes to have mine replaced, Any ideas what sort of prices would be reasonable for the work if its solid underneath? Thanks
Front panel £150 ish 1 day removal 1 day fitting 1 day tinkering/ filler etc 1 day paint refit £1200-1700
I recently got a quote for this. £960 for the labour, plus cost of the panel. This doesn't include the cost of painting which is was £600 all in to include a load of other minor paint repairs
£150 for the outer £100 for the inner, £30 for a screen rubber, £300 and you haven't even started the work.. There will most likely be upper and lower A post repairs under the new skin, and you might as well budget for a new screen, worst case scenario it gets broken going back in.. Labour at a very reasonable £35 ph if you can find anyone at that price to do quality work min 30 hours off and on prepped primed and painted, add paint and materials £100 min and approx 30 hours labour ready to go out the door thats a total parts and labour £1450 .. so a nip and a tuck under £1700...in my estimation,ex VAT , but budget for £2500. If its a proper oldie you might need to replace the indicator units as the nut inserts will be spinning in the housings and they wont come off, the headlight wiring will be butchered, and you might as well upgrade to H4s and the trim rings wont fit. It can take hours just to get the headlights to fit the new panel and adjust.. its not just a case of out with the old on with the new ... How much do you expect to pay ?
I thought my van wasn't to bad, paid £800 for it and drove it on the trailer, shoulda known better.Thought it would be a couple of grand and we would be good to go.. 6 years and to many thousands of pounds later, its travelled nowhere and I cry myself to sleep.
Great thanks all, I have been stock piling parts I have a front panel, lower panel, window seal. I was holding off getting a inner panel.
If your outer is really bad near the screen, chances are you will need the inner, I had a to wait a while for the inner as they were out of stock at the time
As you are stock pilling the parts and if you have a welding machine?. May I suggest you have a go at doing it yourself. Reason why I say this is because its where I started my restoration and found it not to difficult.
