Folks - I have just positioned the rear luggage rack on my westy - the front fixing points (holes for bolts) are clear - but the back fixing points sit off the roof and the holes come down inside to a cross brace just where the back hatch hinge mech is - so I cant see to position the nuts. Am I missing something (menatlly?/physically?) - do I need a rubber block of some kind between the plastic and tin at the back? how do I bolt roof on? how do I seal bolts??? Also.... Canvas on before front lifting section of roof goes on bus or after? As always the excellent advice/pics of installation of TLB crew would be very welcome. (re: what happening to the forum type themes -I have only good experiences on here). cheers and thanks for looking at the questions.
Yep there is 4/5 rubber blocks then a screw goes through to fix it to the roof. That's how it is on my early anyway
I've just done this the other week but didn't take any pics. The rear section bolts through and is a bit of a pain to do on your own. I got a helper to hold long bolts up through from inside the van whilst a put washers and nuts on from the roof side. There are rubbers spacers between metal roof and westfalia section. You put the bolts through them if you follow me. I used new rubber door stops and set them on silicon! Worked a treat.
It was probably a pain because they were held on with large self-tappers so no need to mess with nuts.
Great ! thanks a million - that gives me a plan of attack. Any experiences with fitting new canvas ? - do you get best results if you staple the fabric to the wooden frame when the roof is on the bus or with roof off bus?
