Front Beam Inner Bearings

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Mickle, Jan 31, 2013.

  1. Hi,

I have a perfectly good front beam assembly (early '73), which is short of the steel inner bearings and plastic sleeves in the top tube. I haven't been able to find anybody with them in their catalogues - can they be bought ?

Alternatively, if I knew the diameter in the casing, I could turn up some bearings in poly, that would replace the steel and the plastic bit in one go. And also make them double length for better support perhaps . .

    Can anybody help please ?

  2. Yes. Thanks for that, I got as far as seeing the short outer bearing replacements bu didn't look any further.

    Cheers !
Sorry for the delay by the way I didn't log in before the down time.

  3. Hmmm. Looks like they don't do them for busses. Making them single length is a good idea though, that way if they're a tad loose they can't walk out. Think I'll progress the DIY route after I've got the immediate problems sorted.

    Cheers.
