  1. Don't think anyone has mentioned this, every town village has a municipal campsite
We've always found them to be good and not to pricey.
Fantastic one at Belmont sur Sarthe just above Le Mans, used others only prob is might be a bit early for some !
    Have a good trip ?

  2. if it was just me and the mrs i expect we would have a leisurely drive around stopping in aires and municipal sites but we have a 6 and 4 year old with us, so like the fact we are booked onto a site, with a destination!

  3. Did you make it over o.k. Going to Roscoff and then onto Brest for a wedding in August. Any pointers? Did you get breakdown cover? it seems quite expensive for old vans.
    cheers

Peekaybee who are you insured with? I'm with Carole Nash and breakdown with 30 days European cover is included in the price. About £150 all in I think :)

  5. am pretty sure my cover doesn't include breakdown but will check. cheers

  6. & might be worth just changing insurance company at that price :)

  7. We go across to Brittany a couple of times a year to visit an old friend, and go camping.
I have not bothered with breakdown insurance, you must have confidence in the old Bus!

  10. If I was going on my own, wouldn't bother with breakdown insurance but got two kids with me, so would be a bit of a nightmare. Don't plan to do a huge mileage in france so will pack a spare fan belt etc

You need to be a bit careful with the autoroute as the speeds and higher air temperatures will cause high engine temperatures.
Keep the speed down a bit keep checking oil level , and unfortunately as its a 1600 all the 2.0L T4 engine mpg estimates will be a bit high. Imagine 21-23mpg.
The T4 engine is more economical.

Did a days run of 450 miles with an average speed around 50mph including stops from Mont Saint Michel to Eymet in the Dordogne this time of year a couple of years back and I was glad I had an offboard oil cooler even on a 1641.
