I was up near Elgin ( Scotland) today to look at a job, on route I passed this place, yard full of VWs right on the side of the road, these are pics of the bays.. there were some bricks and a few beetles. I have no idea if these are jobs the fella has in, or if the buses are for sale / breaking.. Although they were all rough except the lhd westy, they were all restoreable after a fashion...the crew cab was water cooled? looked like it had been converted from LHD too..
unfortunately the workshop was all locked up and nobody was about.. otherwise I would have got some prices
It's really sad to see them in such an unloved state. Would love to see someone buy and restore these little beauties!
I wasnt keen to post the location, but thinking about it, its a buisness, its at the road side, so how could they be upset by some nationwide exposure? It has nothing to do with me I live 2 hours away from this place and just passed it on route to look at a metal work resto project .. details removed as the vehicles are mainly customers vehicles...
Dude i like your style A crewcab is a practical solution for the modern man Mrs para hs given specific instructions about no more projects untill the paravan is finished Im hoping i come into money after my bus is finshed as id like to buy my landrover back off paul weeding once its on that new galv chassis If not then whoever buys it is in for a treat
I just spoke to the guy on the phone, it turns out that all the stuff bar a couple of type 25s are customers vehicles and therfore are NOT FOR SALE. There are one or two but they are breakers that have been well picked over... I got a price for one of the breakers ( the red early tintop ) and that was reasonable despite there being a lot of parts missing.. Im kinda tempted... since its nearby..... Since the stuff isnt fpor sale I will remove the contact details so the fella isnt inundated with requests or enquiries.. I think its a one man operation...
The red tin top is the only bus for sale... dont quote me if you get in touch but when I spoke to the chap the asking price for the red tin top as it sits without engine was £350... now baring in mind that most of the bits missing you would throw out anyway that makes it a cheap starter package... for a crossover tintop bay... The logistics of collection and transport would be an issue for anyone further afield and its not as though they are hard to find down south..... Someone buy it before I do, I was tempted to have a run up there today and look it over more closely.... and still am but I really need to knuckle down and do some work while im on holiday ..
