£500 for the whole bus or is that just for the door?

Think admin says you need pictures

  3. £500 for a repaired door!? Good luck with that!

You can get decent original un-repaired doors for that (or less ...)

  4. i dont know how to upload photos but is a good repair i only new it had repair when i removed door card other than that very good.
No not the whole van just the door

I doubt this very much, you need to post a link to these doors as everything I've ever seen that's classed as original (the high priced SA doors) - will need repairing for dents and usually rust................

Sorry to the OP for the thread hijack, but I think you're on the money.

Hi, I would also agree with Kruger .Try getting a RHD door that has not had any repairs is impossible. After much searching I brought two genuine doors [ Not van conversions] that were Aussie imports and only needed a very slight repair to the lower window sill lip but otherwise all original .
Price is fair and not trying to hijack your thread i have a door that does require lower sections and work for £150 if that helps anyone.

  7. OK so admittedly they are rare - I had one but sold it because I was happy with the repair I have done on ours - I sold the door for £400 - totally original, no rust and only a few minor dings. If you were half competent with a welder you could get yourself a decent sliding door for a fraction of £500 and a weekend in the garage.

Apologies to OP - there are a lot of new folks joining the Bay fraternity and since I have been a Bay owner (sorry, mechanic - the bus is owned by the missus) I have seen the price of everything rocket disproportionately and that is just in the space of 7.5years.

Front arches were £60 each back then, what are they now .... £200 a pop!? The price of steel rocketed in the early noughties but has been stable since so what justifies a hike of that magnitude, not even fuel costs can justify that.

    Rant over ...

Good rant ! i threw the toys out of the pram on the Late Bay last year with regards to prices and got slated .
I fully understand and see where you are coming from in the regards of repairing it yourself.Sadly though the cost of paint and welding just make things very expensive for someone not in the motor trade . I am a welder and mechanic and use this to trade with a paint sprayer mate .I also have a professionally sprayed RHD sliding door in White [L90D code ] but due to all the labour cost it is for sale for £450 . Unless someone decides to remanufacture RHD sliders the price will just keep going up .

  9. I was basing my assertion on doing the welding myself, including most of the prep for paint. Paint would be rolled into the cost of repainting the whole van (its inevitable that the door would need repainting even if it had been previously repaired prior to purchase...). Anyway enough from me, I'll get back under my rock...,

It is a sad fact that stuff has got more expensive, but sell it at what seems a more realistic price and a dealer will snap it up and sell it on for more. Who do you want to have this extra money, you or a middle man?
10 years ago I bought 2 for 1 special offer genuine front arches for £50 from JK and a good rust free sliding door was £12o, but that was 10 years ago.

A picture of it fitted to a bus might stop the naysayers.
