This is a 1978 VW camper van with pop up roof, previously converted from a panel van, with 9 months MOT and 87,000 miles on the clock. I’ve enjoyed many camping trips and festivals in the last 9 years but currently I sadly don’t use her enough so it’s with regret that I’m selling. Exterior The chassis is solid and most of the panels have been replaced when it was re-sprayed about 5 yers ago so overall it’s in good condition. Some areas have rust but the panels can be repaired or replaced easily if required. Interior Although the interior is a bit dated, I found the layout, storage and cooking facilities work well. It’s been designed for maximum storage, originally holding a microwave in one section with a 2 ring stove and a sink. The back seats form the rock and roll bed which fold down flat, in the roof there’s a hammock fitted and one spare I have in the garage, which can be fitted. There’s a leisure battery which can be hooked up which I’ve never used. The driver and passenger seats were replaced with more comfortable ones, a lot nicer for longer journeys. Engine The van is a pleasure to drive and starts every time. A re-con engine was fitted a few years ago and I had the break shoes and pipe replace recently. Previously a short shift gear stick was put in to make gears easier to find. The CB radio was fitted in the cab a to stay in touch with other vans in convey, which remains but I don’t tend to use.
