Flywheel shims

  1. Ok my engine is now is but when it's in gear with wheels off ground if I turn my wheels surely the engine should turn but it's not the wheels are spinning !! Did I forget to put shimmed in so it's not reaching the splines on the motion shaft or did I put clutch plate on wrong !!

  2. Nope...you've got a differential in the way, which is doing its best to ignore the fact that you're turning one wheel :) If you rotate both wheels at the same time, the engine would likely turn over.

If you're bored, stick it in neutral with the engine running. Both back wheels will slowly turn due (I'd imagine) to oil drag in the gearbox. The neighbours will be amazed...

  3. Right waiting on a starter motor bloody jk sent 1 with live down to earth !! Not started the engine but if I get my wife to turn other wheel the engine should move are we saying !

  4. If you're really bored, jack the front up, take one wheel off, and lower the jack again. A Bay will quite happily stand on three wheels. Don't drive like this, tho'

  9. The nut on the alternator pulley for a T4, which then turns the crank.
